Richmond Trees

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emination from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.

(Robert Louis Stevenson)

Nature is my springboard. From her I get my initial impetus. I have tried to relate the visible drama of mountains, trees, and bleached fields with the fantasy of wind blowing and changing colours and forms.

(Milton Avery)

  1. These are such beautiful drawings. Aren't we lucky to have access to these lovely places?

  2. We are fortunate to have access to these beautiful drawings.
I would like to know what materials Ian is using. Like Technical Pen or Fountain Pen.
They do appear to be Pen and Ink.

    Just wonderful! I love Trees.

  3. I love these pictures. A friend of mine is involved with a local tree group that campaigns, amongst other things, against the excessive pollarding of our street trees. Looking at these beautiful images confirms, for me, that Richmond Trees is absolutely right on this.
