With an apple I will astonish Paris.

(Paul Cezanne)

Virtue, my pet, is an abstract idea, varying in its manifestations with the surroundings. Virtue in Provence, in Constantinople, in London, and in Paris bears very different fruit, but is none the less virtue.

(Honore De Balzac)

  1. These are all amazing--really wonderful.

  2. Nice to find your blog Ian. And congrats on your election to the RI. I was over in London last week from my home in Chicago to hand in my work for the High Watermark exhibition at the Bankside. I got a thrill out of being exhibited next door to the Tate Modern's Miro exhibition. And I felt in London (my old home) that tingle of excitement that you capture in these sumptious drawings of Paris. Ahh, Europe!
